Holy cow the school year is over!

Man that was fast!

The last month was a bit of a gong show with volunteering, school projects, lacrosse and preschool wrapping up.

Riley really enjoyed his preschool and did a rocking job in his final concert.

Aidan is growing like a weed and is one smart cookie. He is reading at a grade 3 level for sight words and received Exceeding expectation in reading and Meeting + in Math, Writing. Socially he continues to be a ham but did have some tough times on the play ground in his last term. I think all the kids were going a bit nutz and were ready for a break

Lacrosse was fun this year but got to be a bit intense. Riley started off with very little enthusiasm but had lots of fun in his last practices.

We went camping with friends of ours and Monique or Mo as I call her to Chain Lakes reservoir. Nothing says your part of the family like getting cozy in a tent trailer eh Mo!

The weather was perfect with the occasional shower. Mo and I tackled the awning and screen attachment for the first time which gave us much more room. The kids played like crazy with there buddies Emily and Grant and we had some good fun in the canoe as well. The wild life was in abundance with Pelicans, Eagles, Moose, Osprey (My favorite bird) and even a lucky trout at the end of my line!

Dagger gets his first goal!

Well so far our lacrosse experience has been mixed to say the least. Aidan has had a bit of a slow start but not for lack of skill but for lack of focus much like his other sports. I mean he has a great time but doesn't always participate 100% in practice and games, so we've been working on it. I decided to break it down into smaller parts this week and asked him to focus on one thing at a time during his games and work hard every shift. The past couple games he decided to work on his checking and not let up on the ball. The first game he did just that and had ball possession longer than all 5 previous games and the second game his hard work paid off with a beauty of a goal.

Aidan beat a kid to the ball in the corner, scooped it up and ran around to the front looking to pass but saw no one, so he lined it up and let'r rip right over the goalies shoulder!

I was so excited for him that I jumped on the bench and may have exposed a little mid riff, good thing I've been working on my 6 pack ;)

Aidan was so excited and I think is now starting to get the idea that if he really tries hard and focuses good things will happen and he will have a much better time...He finished the night with a big "I love lacrosse Papa!".

We are off to a tourney in Strathmore tonight just him and I so wish him luck!
